“Weighing your options…”
We open up earlier in the afternoon on Scotty who appears to be walking around Millennium Park in Chicago, enjoying the nice, fresh air outside. The breeze was nice and it made the temperature outside very doable because summer was back in Illinois. Spring lasted about a month, which was a little longer than usual. But after hearing what Matt Ward had to say, and after hearing what Chris Orton had to say, it was time that Scotty gave his reply. Right now, Drew was not with him because he had his own things to take care of but there would be no shortage of teamwork between these two. Despite what Matt was trying to do, trying to drive a wedge (poorly) between these two he was foolish to think it would happen. But Matt made his choice, and Chris Orton stands beside his choice as an Alley Cat would despite how Matt treats him. But it was time to get down to business.
[Scotty]: That’s what you had the choice to do, Matt. You had the choice to weigh your options and you chose the path that’s going to end you up in a lot more world of hurt than you would have been before. Look, everybody knows I’m not the confrontational type unless you’ve got something that I want, like a win, but you, Matt, you made some bold claims and some bold statements that I don’t think you can back up. I don’t think that you even are sure how to back them up but you said it because it sounded good at the time and because you’re being offered twenty grand to try and take somebodies livelihood away. I get it, I do, Matt, but I don’t think you quite get what you’re up against. And let’s focus on something here that you seem to keep getting wrong too. We’re not the Jokers Wild, Matt. The Jokers- they died with that chair shot. Whether I believe in Frank’s motivations or not, it doesn’t matter. We’re not the Jokers unless we’re all together. Instead, you’re facing two guys, two brothers, that will stand up for each other no matter what the cost. Two brothers that would take a bullet for one another because of the love and respect that we have for each other that we built over the years.
Scotty paused, and just shook his head. Matt was trying and it was a nice breath of fresh air. It was nice to see him taking things seriously and really wanting this. But it didn’t matter because in the end Matt and Orton would fall.
[Scotty]: Then we’ve got people like you, Matt, that focus on calling us greedy, saying that one of us is living in the shadow of the other but you’re wrong. You’ve never been more wrong, Matt. I’ve never been in Drew’s shadow and he’s never been in mine. You say you’re going to break Drew; Chris says we’re going to get slaughtered. Is that how you really feel, Matt? Do you agree with Chris that you’re going to slaughter us? Because as far as I’ve been able to tell for as long as I’ve known Drew and as long as he’s known me we’ve never been one to back down from a fighter, either. We’ve never let ‘stay down’ be an option. It’s never mattered how beat up we were, how bloody we were because when it came down to it, winning that match was the most important thing at the time because the person trying to put you down was somebody that was trying to say that you just aren’t good enough. Somebody that’s trying to say that they’re better than you and you’re nothing to them but a bump in the road that they’re walking on. So it’s up to guys like us to say “fuck that” and get up and keep fighting until our bodies just will not fight anymore! So riddle me this, Matt, are YOU saying that you’re one of those guys that tries to stand over us? Because if you are, Matt, you’ve made an even bigger mistake than I thought.
The point that Scotty brought up is what goes back to why they’ve called him ‘Never Say Die’ and attributing to many of the matches that Drew has had throughout his career. The Alley Cats would be a challenge, but a challenge would be just what Drew and Scotty needed.
[Scotty]: It sounds to me like you are that type of person, Matt. It sounds like you’ve become that kind of person once some money was waved in front of your face. So you’ve made your decision Matt and that’s fine but when next Saturday rolls around for Unstoppable, you’re going to wish that you made the other choice. You were offered the money in a contingency - over twitter might I add - that if you break Drew’s leg you will be given that money. But what happens when you don’t do it, Matt? What happens when you and Chris Orton can’t get along and one of you is left to face us alone? What do you think is going to happen? It’s like I said the first time, if the two of you want to stand a chance you’re going to have to find a way to work together because there’s no question about it with us. There’s no greed, there’s not even a glimpse of a thought in either of us about trying to use the other for personal gain. Come on Matt, I’d expect you to be better than that. I’d expect you to come out and show us the monster that you’ve become, show us why you call yourself the reaper of the alley. But instead you’re trying to play mind games with a couple of guys that’ve been in the business for a long time and faced off against the best guys at mind games, so try again.
Scotty took a seat at a nearby bench and ran his hands through his hair, wiping some sweat from his brow before leaning forward, planting his arms on his legs, clasping his hands together and leaning forward, raising his head to look towards the camera.
[Scotty]: This whole time, you’ve been trying to figure out what approach you want to take with us. You sat there and you had to think and think and think and then you finally figured it out. You finally figured out that you were going to betray all of your values, take the ultimate risk for the chance of great reward in a fight that you know you shouldn’t be taking these kinds of risks because it’s just not going to pay off. Nobody is taking you for a joke, Matt, We know how tough you can be, Matt, we’ve never taken that away from you but right now it’s like you’re slamming your feet into the group and putting on a nice big pouty face because you’re not getting what you want. You want to beat us because you want to be taken seriously, you want people to not take you as a joke. But how selfish of you, Matt. What about Chris Orton, or LeBroc Harris? Where’s the love for them? All you did in the first video that was uploaded to the site was complain about why you were partnered with Chris Orton. You spent time insulting your partner because he had one off week. But then there he is, there’s Chris Orton coming at us with everything he’s got. He’s “bad guy!” He’s such a bad guy that he said he’s going to slaughter us. Wonder if he got a referral from Cocheese for that Slaughter house he took Nikki Venom to.
Scotty laughed a little. He made a joke, so what?
[Scotty]: Matt Ward and Chris Orton - the two of you need to be on the same page. You need to get your shit together and come at us as a unit or else you’re going to fail because for us, failure is not an option! You have your reasons to win, we have ours too. We’ve got the handicap and you know full well and why. So Unstoppable rolls around here in about a week, Drew and I are expecting the two of you to work like the team you are and bring what you got just like anybody else would because that’s what we’re giving you. Chris, you may be crazier than me; and Matt you may be bigger than me and you may be stronger than me, but you sure as hell aren’t going to be better than me. When they’re not calling me Mister Never Say Die, they’re calling me The Innovator! And if ya don’t know what that means, well just you wait and see. Saturday June 4th, Scotty Addams and Drew Stevenson versus Matt Ward and Chris Orton, it’s game on boys so I hope you’re ready.
End.
