The lights are on, students are either lifting weights or training in the ring, and cameras are floating around inside the Emerald Academy as Jackal is finishing up lunch with his old friend, Drew Stevenson, when he hears a knocking at the front door. One of the students’ answers and returns with an envelope addressed to Jackal. Jackal takes the envelope and disappears towards the back, listening to Daniel Smart’s radio appearance and what he had to say about their upcoming match at Unstoppable 5 and how he didn’t fear Death. That was all fine and dandy, except that Jackal was much worse than Death. Jackal had a tendency to make Death look like a bitch. There was a reason Jackal earned the nickname “The Devil’s Reject” and it was about time that Daniel Smart learned what that reason was. The past few weeks, Jackal has been in a rather chill state of mind, but his gears just shifted towards bat shit crazy, and now nobody was safe. About twenty minutes later, Jackal emerged from the back of the academy and climbed into the ring, completely ignoring the sparring session that was going on between a couple students who went by Dolla and Change. Dolla quickly escaped the ring, but Change was planted with Das Boot before Jackal locked him in The Devil’s Grasp in the middle of the ring. Finally, Drew climbed in and pulled Jackal off Change as Dolla, Animal and a few others helped Change out of the ring.
Drew: “Dude, what the hell was that? I thought you were going to teach them a few things. Not damn near kill one of them. What gives?”
Jackal: “Sorry, I got a little carried away. Give me a mic and a camera. I got some work to do for MSW real fast.”
Jackal grabbed the mic as Drew took control of the camera as they stood in the middle of the ring at the Emerald Academy.
Jackal: “Ladies and gentleman, Jackal here and I’m coming to you, live and in living color from the famous Emerald Academy. For those of you wondering, I’m here with the one and only Drew Stevenson. He would say something, but he’s controlling the camera right now.”
Jackal paused for a moment as Drew turned the camera and gave a quick smile and wave before turning the camera back on Jacal.
Jackal: “Now that we got THAT out of the way, I need to deliver a message to a certain…Smart ass.”
Drew arched a brow from behind the camera, rather confused.
Jackal: “You see, Daniel. I’ve gone a few rounds with your cousin, Michael. Hell, I’ve been to war with Drew, here, and he knows it. Hell…”
Jackal paused once more and lowered the microphone long enough to remove his shirt and turn his back to the camera, using his now free hand to point at a series of scars scattered across his back.
Jackal: “…These scars, here? They came from Drew. German suplex onto a board wrapped in barbwire. I got up, noticed the drops of blood, turned to Drew, gave him my sadistic grin and asked for another one. You see, Daniel, I listened to your visit to that shitty Chicago radio station from earlier, and I have to admit that you’ve already managed to piss me off to a new level. That’s why, I’m making this request in front of Drew here at the Emerald Academy. Do yourself a favor and not show up to Unstoppable V. Why? Because if you step into that ring with me, I’m throwing the rule book out the window. I will show you why they call me the Devil’s Reject first hand. I’ve been a part of brutal wars with countless superstars of this business, even a few who think they have earned the title of legends, like a few from the days I spent in San Francisco. That was the worst six months of my life I ever spent, because unless I was doing something work related, I never left the hotel.”
Jackal set the mic down in the ring so he could put his shirt back on, leaving it open before picking the mic back up.
Jackal: “So, Daniel, do yourself and the rest of the Smart clan a favor. Disappear, like your cousin Michael. Because if you do show up for our match, may whatever non-existent deity you chose to worship have mercy on what will be your broken spirit. Because I sure as hell won’t.”
Jackal tossed the microphone to Drew as he climbed out of the ring and made his way off to the side, still keeping an eye on things going on around the academy until Drew made his way over.
Drew: “So…what exactly was that all about? I mean the assault on Change. The other thing was pretty obvious. I thought Change was one of your best prospects. Why else would he be here at the academy?”
Jackal: “Change has talent, but he won’t make it in this business with Dolla. He’s great, but only in tag team action. I’m afraid he won’t make it in the business by himself. Somebody had to teach him that lesson, and I figured it should have been me. If you want to let him tough it out, see if he improves, that’s fine. But, in my honest opinion, he’s gone as far as he can and should probably look into another career.”
