The scene opens up outside the famed Emerald Academy in Kansas City, Missouri. Frank Washington could be seen sitting on a bench near the entrance with a lot weighing on his mind between MSW and its sister promotion Legacy Wrestling. In one he was set to team with his arch rival Robert Garland in a month’s time to challenge for the MSW Tag Team Championship while in the other he had to deal with WASTE as a manager; both of his clients facing members of WASTE in back to back matches. A lot weighed on his mind even at a place he considered a sanctuary but for the moment he had to focus on what was in front of him, a match with Dylan Thomas. A man looking to cash in on a second chance, an opportunity many never get to experience he knew he was going to do whatever it took to score an upset.
Frank slowly looks up at the camera with a gaze of steely determination in his eyes.
Frank Washington: In a way I can sympathize with your plight Dylan. Many people aren’t willing to give someone a second chance when their history gives no indication or promise that things would be any different than they were previously. Normally a man with a bad history is blackballed from the industry, if a man has a reputation of arriving late or engages in unscrupulous behavior chances are the promoter isn’t going to want to take an unnecessary risk. Yet for some reason I’m inclined to believe you, or at least I want to believe in you.
Frank smirks as he stands up from the bench and starts pacing back and forth.
Frank Washington: While my time may have been brief we have worked in the same promotion before the infamous sunset and I had the privilege of seeing your work firsthand. When Dylan Thomas shows up and pushes his chips to the center of the table he can go with the best of them. You’re good, you’re deceptively good and I mean that as a compliment. One match that stood out to me in particular is when you defeated Ian Windermear months ago when everyone thought he had the match in the bag; that’s when I saw what the real Dylan Thomas could do. That was my first impression of Dylan Thomas and that’s why when Drew Stevenson needed someone to see if you were for real I decided to volunteer to step up to the plate.
Frank stops as he looks back into the camera as he takes a few moments to reflect on his own situation and his own past. His rivalry with Robert Garland brought all his dirty laundry out for the world to see as far as his past was concerned and if anyone understood the significance of getting a second chance it was Frank Washington.
Frank Washington: On Thursday night you’ll get your chance as MSW moves to its new home in Kansas City in front of the live audience. A win here can get you a shot on the main card, a loss could be catastrophic in your bid to reinvent your image as a man worthy of the opportunity to wrestle in MSW. Give me your best shot; show me that you want to be here! Give me the real Dylan Thomas! Show me why you’re deserving of the name the “Alternative Hero” in the “Alternative of Professional Wrestling”. See you on Thursday Dylan and good luck… you’ll need it.
With that the scene abruptly fades to black.
