“Decades.”
The camera opens up on a shot of Chris Williams in his home, a quaint little white-picket-fence home back in suburban metro Detroit. Williams is walking through the living room, carrying a large cardboard box. The walls seem mostly barren; it is clear that Chris is moving out. “I’ve been wrestling and fighting for most of my life, I’ve even been getting paid to do it for awhile, too!” Williams smirks, but with a touch of sadness on his face. He stacks the cardboard box in an area with many others, as it seems he is nearly finished packing. He turns back toward the camera and addresses the audience. “Through years in this business, I have been forced to be smarter with my time. If you let it, this sport will consume you. Hell, I even let it consume me just a few years ago. However, I’ve learned to prioritize things that make me happy. This sport is definitely one of those priorities, but it’s not the ONLY one. But lately, I’ve spent so much time and money just on traveling to shows, that staying in this house is just not a viable option anymore. I’ve got pretty limited time in the grand scheme of things… Money even less so. So to save on both, and to allow myself more time for other hobbies, I have decided to move to Kansas City! Now I know I may never be the ‘local hometown hero’ and it’s not really my intention, I hope the local MSW fanbase embrace me as their own every day just like they do on the Saturday nights that I tear the house down.”
Williams nods and smiles, lifting his spirits presumably by thinking back to some of his better nights in MSW. Some highlights flash across the screen, including Williams’ debut against the Magician, as well as becoming the first-ever Pure 15 champion at Back to Basics. The camera focuses back in on Williams, who continues. “Speaking of tearing the house down, I definitely want to take some time to address my upcoming opponents at Unstoppable 23, the Alley Cats. Three men - LeBroc Harris, Chris Orton, and Matt Ward. I’m not a stranger to any of these men. LeBroc and Ward both are MSW Originals from Season One; Ward and I even found ourselves in opposite corners for the inaugural MSW Pure 15 Championship match. Hey Matt, if I remember right… I won that match! Right? I know my memory is a little hazy, but I swear I remember carrying that big-ass trophy everywhere with the goofiest, widest smile on my face. Man that was a great night. Huge night for our entire federation, one that I’m thankful to have been a part of. Hell, that same night, my boy Luke had one of the biggest matches of his career. He came up a little short, but very few people on this roster can make the claim of being in the main even of an MSW Supercard, and Luke Jackson was a certifiable FORCE in Season One. I have no doubt that he will continue on that path now that he’s back home in Season Two.
But back to Matt. He and I have tangled in the ring before, we have history and it seems like we are destined to go at it again. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure if it would happen, because right when I returned to MSW, Ward dropped off the face of the earth. And he thought I would take my ball and go home? HA! Ward has been running scared for WEEKS since I found my way home, and it was only after I finally lost at War that he decided to pop his head out of the hole he was hiding in like one of those terrible little Whack-A-Moles that won’t go away for good. Pop-up, BAM! Pop-up, BAM! I keep knocking him upside the head, he disappears for awhile, then he pops back up again. Hey, gotta give him credit, he does keep coming back. But Matt, it doesn’t matter how many times you come back… it won’t erase history. I’ve beaten you before, and I can beat you again. It’s put up or shut up time for me and you, and I fully intend on giving you another knock on the head.
Williams lightly knocks on the camera to drive his point home, staring and smiling into the camera, feeling ready to take on the world. “In that same vein is another man who I have already looked at across the ring, and that’s the Bad Cat himself, Chris Orton. I’ll be the first to admit, a hell of a lot has changed since then. He’s become sort of a menace in the Hardcore division, racked up reign after reign and has arguable become one of the faces of Hardcore in MSW. Now I’m no slouch in the Hardcore division, but some of the stunts he has pulled in the name of going for gold makes my stomach turn. Whether or not that Chris Orton shows up, or the Chris Orton that I put down weeks ago… we will see.
But LeBroc, these are the men you surround yourself with. I’m not sure which of you believes you LEAD this band of hardcore kitties, but you’re the one with the title right now, so I’m gonna guess it’s you. The LeBroc Invitational was always a hit each and every show, and I have a lot of respect for you. Hell, I have a lot of respect for MOST MSW Originals, Matt Ward excluded…. However, you haven’t done yourself any favors in choosing your running-mates here in MSW. I’ve never been in the ring with you, but I’ve single-handedly beaten your teammates. The three of you may have a good grip on the hardcore division, but this isn’t a hardcore match. This is my match. This is Luke Jackson’s match. This is Robert. Garland’s. Match.
Robert Garland. The one who ‘can’t be trusted’ and all that. Williams chuckles to himself a little, shaking his head. He points to the camera, addressing LeBroc and the Alley Cats again. “You guys continue to talk about things that you don’t fully understand. You say he can’t be trusted, but you don’t even know the man. Badger and I have been wrestling together for years. Nearly a decade ago, we debuted within a month of each other, and here we are now. Look, we’ve had our differences. Who doesn’t? We haven’t always agreed, but if there is one thing that I know for certain - Badger never hides who he is. You say he can’t be trusted, I say you aren’t paying close enough attention to what he’s actually telling you. Badger and I had to work some of our issues out, and we did so the way we knew best - our bare hands. A few weeks ago, he and I threw down in some abandoned building, masqueraded as a fight over the hardcore title. The reality? It had nothing to do with that title, and everything to do with us putting all that crap behind us. We didn’t hold back, and we left everything in that building. I don’t even think I could lift my arm getting out of bed the next morning, and the left side of my face was pounding something fierce… but that was it. This isn’t some schoolgirl drama between us - we had history to settle, and now it’s done. I’ll have his back from here out, and he’s already shown that he has mine. We are focused on settling another score now, and we won’t stop until Capital Crew is overthrown. And the first step to taking on a team of five potentially-maniacal thugs? I think a great first step would be taking down a team of three hardcore dudes, and that’s what WE intend to do. Because while you three have been getting along for about 10 days, WE have been doing this for a decade. Because while the three of you Pussycats eventually will break down over who should have the hardcore title, WE will stand and fight as a team. WE will beat the Alley Cats.
Because WE will not be outhustled.
WE will not be overmatched or underprepared.
And WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN.
