-- Starting Over![Unstoppable I] --
"Under the Gun!" [Unstoppable II]
Lexi Pryce wasn't phased by Queen Vic. She made a point of making sure she drove that point home as she uttered her first words towards their upcoming bout against each other on Unstoppable 25. Very harsh, sobering, hard-hearted words for the young Brit to take in but following a loss at the hands of Lexi's former partner in crime Vic was more than willing to just swallow her pride and accept them for what they were. She had to move on from last Unstoppable keeping her eyes on the prize which was craving a name out for herself in this business and within the not so friendly confines of Missouri State Wrestling. Everyone she went up against was the proverbial enemy, this wasn't a social club, this was professional wrestling, and her peers were combatants. Every last one of them gunning to take her down and out if it meant getting ahead and climbing up the ladder of success within the Women of Honor division. It meant that Vic couldn't take what Lexi said personally, that she had to take it with a grain of salt, and push forward pursuing her own goals. Vic wanted to taste championship gold as a singles competitor in the United States having found great success at a very young age in the UK. She'd come close before but one thing or another got in the way of her achieving those goals. She had a prime opportunity to make that goal a reality here in MSW but fell short in her debut match against Alison Crowne. A huge blow to her ego, her drive, her focus, her competitive spirit questioned. It ate at Vic. She had to use it as fuel. She had to work harder. Fight harder. Have tunnel vision blocking any and everyone out. There was no question that this upcoming match against Lexi Pryce was a huge opportunity and Lexi's last words were fitting because indeed Queen Vic was under the gun. Lexi claimed that she'd finish her off and not miss when she took the shot. Could Vic do the unthinkable and dodge the inevitable bullet once the shots had been fire? That was the question; if you asked Lexi, Vic, couldn't do it and she had her dead to rites. But if you asked Vic, her answer would be? You'll have to stay tuned and find out.
It was nice warm day in Atlanta, slight breeze that cooled otherwise muggy summer heat and humidity that was associated with the South. As we came into focus we say a suburban set of a very middle class neighborhood on the outskirts of the city. Very plush and green where every house had the picturesque well groomed and manicured lawns and the house. Sure enough taking a casual stroll down the sidewalk was our heroine Queen Vic, or for some our villainess. The camera panned the area as we got a shot of her surrounding before getting a close up on Vic as she stopped in the middle of the deserted streets and extended her arms out wide speaking up.
Queen Vic, "When you look out over streets letting your mind wonder what comes to mind? Ho-hum, average, mundane lives. Too perfect, too pristine, too well put together. So much so that it's uninspiring. Nothing impressive really, nothing inspiring, nothing that ignites a flame in the pit of your belly, nothing to get passionate about, nothing to fight for. It just is! It exists! The dreaded 'burbs, a prison of old ideals from an era long past its expiration date. This, this is what used to represent what was the ultimate symbol of success, the American Dream, get a good job, get married, have kids, move to the 'burbs, live comfortably within your means, retire, and live a good life. You might not achieve great fame or fortune but to your wife, kids, and loved ones you were royalty, you were a rock star."
Vic shook her head as she strolled by a house where a couple with their two children and a large dog piled into a mini-van. A wry smile on her face as she looked on and continued to speak.
Queen Vic,"That right there, that is the living proof of what I'm talking about, everyone's happy, all smiles, Mum, dad, brother, sister, and the beloved family pet, all piling into the car for a midweek family outing. Life's good, on this early summer's day. Or so one would think, because on the outside looking in when you look at the surface, you might see your stereotypical middle class family living the "American Dream" or what it used to be. It might eat at you because that was not the cards you've been dealt in life. It might, be a representation of what of everything that you hate... That which aspire not to be that represents more of a nightmare, a prison, that stifles your mind, your creativity, your very essence of who you are what you aspire be. You fight, you scratch, you claw, you scrape your way to the top of your given profession doing it by yours, so that you reach the top and say you did it your way. Once you get there you don't have to settle, you don't have to live this lie, this fading visage of an era long gone by and never coming back. This boring, uninspired picture of perfection."
Vic strolls some more, you see a woman with a child struggle to corral her three elementary aged children and get them into the car. She strolls past a couple with no children arguing as one storms out of the house, one the one at the door pleads for the leaving member of the relationship to come back as they storm out heading for their car. Vic continues as she passes through narrating her observations.
Queen Vic, "When you dig deeper, dare to imagine, dare to go beyond the surface, and peel back the layers, these people, these average ordinary everyday people, they fight for a living, but unlike us, they don't paid to do harm to others, they fight to survive, they fight to keep a roof over their heads, they fight to keep food on the table, they fight to keep their marriage together, their families strong. Once they stop fighting, once they succumb to the pressure, once they give up homes are broken, relationships shattered beyond repair, all hope lost, and just because they caved in and succumbed to the pressures. Nothing's perfect, all those glitters ain't gold, nothing should be taken for granted. Absolutely nothing because in an instant once you get lazy, once you take your eyes off the prize, and begin to coast it could all be snatched away from you for good. All these people here never set out to have struggles, burdens, and heartache but it happens. It happens... Life just happens even to those who look as if they've got it all figured out. And this may be a shock to you but even I, am, no different."
Queen Vic pauses after pointing to herself. As she taps her heart with her pointer finger before continuing on.
Queen Vic, "I'm not indestructible. I'm not unbeatable. I'm not an infallible woman. I don't need you Lexi, to tell me that I'm under the gun, that my back's up against the wall, that going into the Unstoppable I'm in jeopardy of fall to 0-2 here in MSW. That it could be the death blow to any of my lofty goals to make a name for myself within the Women of Honor division. I don't need you to tell me this Lexi, just like these people don't need others to point out their failings and shortcomings as we are always our own worst critics. No, lexi, I know that I'm fighting from underneath and that you're poised and ready to pounce on me to pound me further in the ground. But the great thing about this business Lexi is that if you can scrap, you've got punchers chance, and I know that I can scrap. Last Unstoppable wasn't the first match I've lost and it won't be the last. It didn't stop me from pushing forward and continuing to fight, continuing to pursue my goals. So if I was you, I wouldn't just mark this one down in the win column just yet."
Queen Vic wags her finger no.
Queen Vic, "You can’t underestimate and look past me because no matter how brash even borderline cocky you might think I most assuredly am. Even if you think it is undeserved. All the blood, all the sweat, all the tears, all the anger, all the rage, pent up frustration, all that hate that resides deep inside you won’t matter. I will as you said earn my namesake, and believe me sweetheart when I do I’ll do it in spades."
Cut & Fade.
