SLAM!
CRASH!
CLING!
My ears were filled with the sound of all of these noises at once but that is a normal day for me at the Academy. Focusing on two students who were going to be something big, I watched them very closely in the ring and was definitely impressed with what I was saying. Taking my eyes off of them for only a second, I looked around at all of the state of the art equipment that I purchased for my Academy and to say that business was booming was an understatement, it has grown so much since I first opened up the Academy back in 2006 and the word booming wasn't even big enough to show just how big and popular that my Academy has gotten.
"No, no, no, not like that - bring them up higher and float over with more fluidity than that, make it look crisp or don't do it at all."
Grilling a few of the younger students who weren't executing moves properly, I had a very hard training regimen, one that most people never made it through. Removing my hands from off of the ring apron, I took a couple of steps back and turned away from the ring knowing that the people who I have hired, which are fellow legendary wrestlers had everything under control.
"Mr. Stevenson, you have a very important phone call waiting for you in your office."
Turning around and seeing my secretary standing behind me, I nodded my head at her and thanked her for letting me know.
"Thanks Ashley, I will head to my office and take it right now; just let them know that I'm coming."
Nodding her head and immediately walking back to her desk, I made my way through the training facility and the hall where my office was located. Walking into my office and closing the door behind me, I took a seat at my desk and saw the little red button flashing on my phone which indicated that I had a call on hold. Picking the phone up and pressing the button, the red light went off as I spoke to whoever it was on the other end.
"This is Drew Stevenson, how can I help you?"
Listening to the man on the other end, he spoke for quite a while, letting me know exactly why he decided to call. I will admit, I'm not glad that he called because the news that I am receiving could be extremely detrimental to not only my career but to my life as well. After listening to this man, I took in a deep breath and let me tell you; it was most certainly needed right about now.
"And you're sure about this? There's absolutely nothing and I do mean NOTHING that can be done?"
Pausing so that I could hear what the man on the other end of the phone has to say, I didn't like the answer that I received so I held my composure to the best of my ability. Running my left hand along the top of my head and placing it there, I went from having an amazing day to suddenly having quite possibly the worst day in my life.
"Alright, thanks for calling! Yeah, you too and keep me updated if there's anything that we can do. Day or night, it doesn't matter what time it is, you let me know if there's anyway at all that we can prevent this."
Saying our goodbyes, instead of hanging up the phone, I lost my temper and threw the receiver at the wall as it shatters into many pieces. Not keeping my cool very well, I proceeded to wipe off my desk throwing everything into the floor and by this time? I saw many students, trainers, and even a best friend in Scotty Addams standing there in the doorway as they knew that something was wrong.
"Hey man, are you OK?"
Looking genuinely concerned for his best friend, I knew that Scotty's question was in good intentions but I didn't want to talk about it right now, I just wanted to leave and to try and clear my head. Brushing past everybody without saying a word, I darted for the exit and left my Academy.
If this is what hell feels like, I don't want any part of it.
