In a memo released to talent, staff and fans via MSW.com we've come to learn that effective immediately Barrel's "Steel Screwdriver" finishing maneuver has been banned due to safety concerns. As seen at Unstoppable, Barrel's knee was damaged by Silas Romero and during the attempt to put Romero away Barrel's leg gave out under him which might of led to serious injury.
Cameras were rolling following Unstoppable and picked up Barrel being evaluated by The Capital Crew's doctor; Julian Gibbs. As we found out there was no serious damage to Barrel's knee, rather a sprain but due to Barrel refusing to see MSW's staff physician; Dr. Vic, IC3 made a point of banning the risky finisher. From Barrel, we learned that if Barrel does indeed decide to disregard the ban he will face a $5,000 fine the first time and then it could double for repeated offenses. Also, Barrel remarked that IC3 also threatened criminal negligence if the notice was ignored.
How will this change Barrel's BIG IMPURE Championship match with Chris Williams? The leg Barrel usually uses to hit his big boot is injured and unless he wants to be out $5K he can't use The Steel Screwdriver.. this adds an interesting layer to the show.
It seems like IC3 is beginning to take the power back that he lost after WAR when Tommy Montana and TJ Bryce lost gold to Frankie Cocheese and Barrel! This is a HUGE blow to The Capital Crew as Barrel himself said there's no bigger driving force in the industry than money..
What will he do!?
