“I’ve spent the past week thinking about what happened, how it happened and what to do from here.”
Opening up on Scotty who sports an MSW shirt with a pair of simple denim jeans and a backwards baseball cap reading the letter ‘TNR” as a throwback to his tag team days with Zarek Lyle. It was a sunny day out, the summer had just hit the midwest and it was in the high 90’s. It wouldn’t cool off til night time when we a decent breeze would run through but this was the time of year that Scotty really enjoyed.
Heading into Unstoppable, Scotty found himself in the Junior Heavyweight Division of MSW making it his goal to go for the MSW Junior Heavyweight Championship with the goal of being the first champion to set a standard high for the division to come. But for now Scotty had a challenge ahead of him. He had to take on two extraordinary athletes. One being a technical mastermind that some can say is on par with Drew Stevenson. The other is a man that Scotty has known for a number of years- Jay B. Scotty was there when Jay B got his first taste of gold and he had come a long way since then. Things like that would make this match very interesting so Scotty had to step his game up.
[Scotty]: I guess the first thing is to congratulate Matt Ward. Matt, you did what nobody thought you could do and you defeated Drew and myself. It doesn’t matter how you did it, doesn’t matter that you used a chair to do it because the record books are just going to show that ‘W’ on your side so congrats, Matt. You earned that one. Now, if and when we meet again? The outcome may not be the same for you. But you see, what you did Matt wasn’t just defeat me and Drew. You elevated the name of the Alley Cats even higher. Upset of the century they’re calling it! Right up there with Jay B getting the win over Olga. Two things that nobody expected but that’s what makes MSW great; knowing the fact that anything can happen anytime. Matt Ward, you also made this match a whole lot harder for me and for that.. I thank you.
He paused for just a moment while he brought a smile to his face.
[Scotty]: So why am I thanking Matt Ward? Because of the challenge. That win that Matt Ward and Chris Orton picked up also gave LeBroc Harris a whole lot more confidence that he can do it too. Harris has never been a slouch so don’t get me wrong. That’s a guy that has had the technical skill to put his name on the map numerous times. The guy that’s had great match after great match and stole the show at Unstoppable 24 against Luke Jackson, showing just what this Junior Heavyweight Division can do. So thanks to the Alley Cats, the game is stepped up to a whole new level and that makes me excited. It makes me excited for my own sake of having the best competition I can have in this division right now, and it says good things for the future.
Scotty grabbed his cap with his smile still wide and repositioned it on his head to make it a little more comfortable in the heat.
[Scotty]: The two of you, Harris and Jay B… I’ve got nothin’ but respect for the two of you but you need to understand that since finally signing that dotted line to MSW there’s one thing that I set my eyes on first and that’s to help take this division with the rest of the other talented men and women that will be competing in this division and put it on the map. You guys have started but now I’m going to take it to a level even higher. It starts with Unstoppable when the three of us clash. Three of the most talented athletes in one ring together that when we KNOW that anything can and will happen and that’s when I begin to thrive! See, the two of you are great- hell you’re more than great in your own ways, but remember that no matter how good you ever will be...when you’re in that ring with me I’m going to do everything humanly possible to be better, to walk out with that W and my hand raised high because that’s what I do! I steal shows! I steal moments! I MAKE historic moments every - single - time that I step foot into that ring! I’ve made it my mission to face off against the best of the best throughout my career and every day that I wrestle is another opportunity. Another opportunity to face men like Frank Washington, Christian Michaels, Drew Stevenson and Frankie Cocheese. It’s an opportunity to face off against men I’ve never wrestled before like Barrel, Chris Williams, Theo Vega and the two of you-- LeBroc Harris and Jay B are on that list too.
Scotty continues his walk as the sun beats down on this beautiful Saturday evening. With Unstoppable only one week away, there’s still so much that can happen. Scotty was getting ready for whatever was going to come his way. But his words with Harris and Jay B were not finished.
[Scotty]: So I’ve got the respect for the two of you that we all know you deserve. But just because I respect you doesn’t mean that when bell rings I’m not going to beat the both of you. Jay B questions how Matt Ward can pin me, questionable or not. Well Jay B, allow me to answer that question for you. I lost because I lost. I lost because at 24, despite the underhanded tactics used they were the better men. At Unstoppable 16 but what’s done is done, what happened happened and we move forward. And you’re right, Jay, you’re the one on fire. You’re the one coming in with all of the momentum which is all the more reason that next Saturday night I plan to walk out as the winner. You and I may be cool outside the ring, Jay, but when that bell rings there is no mercy. There is no friendships, just three guys looking for that win. You want it so you can keep going on a roll and keep the momentum going, LeBroc Harris wants it to get back on track, I feel that I need it to keep my word that I’m going to take this division and give it that kick start to being the single most talked about and sought after championship in MSW history.
And all of that begins with this match here. Everybody in this division has a reason that they want to be that top dog, that they want to be the man with the target on their back and that’s what makes me love this but last week I let my guard down and I let fate take control and I paid for it but not anymore. When I finally captured the ICWA Heavyweight Championship it was because I finally took control of my own destiny and I took control of how I wanted things to go. I came to MSW because I got tired of waiting. I got tired of trying to work for promoter after promoter that didn’t want to do the job right. I get it, we’ve all been there, but I knew coming to MSW I could take control of my own destiny again!
Scotty stopped his walk and wiped some sweat from his brow as the sun continued to come down. The wind blew strong for a moment; very refreshing for the heat but too nice of a day to spend inside doing anything.
[Scotty]: As I take control of my destiny again, I’m not letting this match slip by me. I CAN’T let it slip by me. In this match for me, failure is not an option. A failure here sets me back, it prevents me from keeping my word and that is NOT something that I’m going to allow! I chose this division because of what it represents, and because it’s a homecoming for me. So don’t you worry about who won or lost, Jay, you need to worry about this match and understand that just as much as you’ve gotten better, so have I. I’ve been where you are, Jay, and I’ve been where you are, LeBroc, And now here we are with new stomping grounds and we’re on an even playing field and I’m back there again. It’s time to take control of my destiny again and claim that prize. Nothing will ever take away the fight you’ll put up but you’re up against Never Say Die. There is no quit in me, and on Saturday Night I - Will - Win.
End.
