Jorge Santos: Opportunity. A word that means so much to seemingly so little. Waking up every day is an opportunity, the dawn of each new day is another opportunity to prove yourself to the world.
The scene opens up in front of Jorge’s modest apartment in Kansas City, Missouri. He lives neither in a great or a bad neighborhood but judging from the cracks and faded painting one could call this abode a bit below average but to Jorge that didn’t matter. The fact that he was in America to live his dream was enough to put a smile on his face underneath his mask. Jorge is dressed in a rather casual business attire to go with his mask. His grey slacks were a bit faded, his black blazer was a little bleached from exposure to the harsh summers in Mexico but despite the blemishes of his attire his clothes were none the less treated with loving care.
Jorge Santos: The Missouri State Wrestling World Championship, the ultimate crown jewel in all of America, the very dream my father told me to chase. It’s a very special occasion when you have a chance to become the first ever champion of a company, an accomplishment that nobody can truly take way. All roads until now have been leading me to this very moment where I could write my name into the very history of this sport.
Jorge looks up to the sky as he nods softly before turning back to the camera.
Jorge Santos: Having walked the MSW arena week after week, learning and studying from all the greats who’ve passed through here I’ve seen some amazing matches in the middle of the ring. I’ve seen guys like Peyton Von Licht pour his very heart and soul in that ring, I’ve watched Daniel Smart overcome insurmountable odds to deliver justice at the very end, I’ve seen Luke Jackson hold his own in that squared circle and prove that despite his size he truly belongs amongst the very best in this industry.
Jorge than pauses, almost as if he’s hesitating as he shakes his head in disbelief.
Jorge Santos: But then I also see others who put in the bare minimum required, I’ve seen guys walk out of that locker room ignorant of the opportunities that lay before them! How could you not be excited to try to make history?! How could you not want to bust your ass to reach the very top?!
Jorge looks down at the ground as he squats as he grabs a fist full of sand, looking at it studiously.
Jorge Santos: Do they not take this sport seriously, have they no appreciation for tradition that dates back to the National Wrestling Alliance and before? Have they no respect for pioneers like Verne Gange and Lou Thez? I assure you these men did not become immortals in the very lore of this sport by sitting at home and doing nothing.
The sand starts slipping through his fingers as he slowly clenches his fist.
Jorge Santos: If you’re not here to compete then go take a regular day job, go back to where you came from and give your spot to a hungry competitor who will take full use of the opportunities you’re so willing to squander. But if you’re willing to compete, if you’re willing to give it your all, I’ll be waiting in that ring. Anytime, anyplace, anyone. Regardless if I win or lose I will always give it my all. My name is Jorge Santos and I am The New American Dream… I am the next MSW World Heavyweight Champion.
Fade.
