3. Next Battle
The scene fades in and we find ourselves at the beach. We look around and see nothing short of the perfect day. The weather is lovely and warm, and perfect for simply lying back and relaxing letting time pass by. We notice Mike Harrison sat down on a small stone wall wearing a pair of Armani aviator sunglasses, sandals, khaki shorts, and a half unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt. Yes, he's man enough to wear such an outfit in public and he dares you to say otherwise!
At first he doesn't appear to be paying attention, but unlike most, Mike makes sure he knows his surroundings and what is going on. After all, you never quite know when you will need to know a good way to escape, as trouble can be round any corner, and as well as having to avoid the groupies that come with being a famous and popular wrestler. We approach him slowly and with that he finally turns his head to look directly at us, a warm smile breaches his lips and he waves us over. And within a few minutes he begins to address the camera, deciding not to waste any time.
Mike Harrison: So here we are, the fifth Unstoppable show. Boy, how time flies. From the moment this promotion opened its doors it has been nothing but continued growth. Wrestlers continue to flock to the great state of Missouri to be a part of history. Every show is bigger and better than the last. Every show the fans get to see amazing wrestler. Heart stopping spots. And simply the best damn product on the market!
It amazes me how this promotion manages to top each show, but alas, it manages to do it. That is one of the true signs that this promotion is something special. It is a testament to the talent that has flocked here, and for them to continue to get better, to push the boundaries, makes it a pleasure to be a part of this promotion. I do not regret for one second making the jump to join MSW. People called me crazy when I shunned seven figure contracts thrown my way by a couple of well known national promotions. Promotions that would have flown me to every show first class. Promotions that would have set me up in penthouse suites. But I turned that down. I turned my back on that because I saw something special in this promotion. It wasn't bright lights. It wasn't mega bucks. It was simply the fact that this promotion wants to put WRESTLING back on the map, and not that soap opera bullshit!
Harrison shakes his head in dismay as he stands up straight. He straightens his shirt, and pushes his shades back in place before continuing.
Mike Harrison: Throughout my career people have questioned my desire to compete. They have always pointed to the simple fact that I have always followed the money. And I am honest enough to admit that until recently that is what has defined my career. I have rarely been loyal. If one place offered me more money, better conditions, I was on it like a Catholic Priest on a...
We hear a loud cough. The camera man had interrupted Harrison to prevent him from finishing what could be a very inappropriate joke. Despite his best intentions Harrison scowls at the cameraman, but shakes it off deciding not to waste any time, he will deal with the cameraman afterwards.
Mike Harrison: Like I was saying before I was rudely interrupted. I have heard wrestlers young and old, big and small, rich and poor, title holders and not - question me. Time and time again I have come up against opponents that throw the same old questions my way. They question my ability... my desire... my motives... But you know what happens each and every time?
Harrison stops and arches his eyebrow.
Mike Harrison: What happens is I go out to that ring and put them down. For all the questions, the simple fact is that I damn good at my job. If my opponent wants a brawl, I can match them. If they want to go up top, I can match them. If they want a technical battle, I can match them. Why? Because from the moment I stepped into the ring at the start of my career, I have been hell bent on becoming the best wrestler in the world. Now maybe I haven't reached those lofty goals, but what I have done is become one of the best all round wrestlers. I can brawl. I can fly high. I can outwrestle anyone. So why people come out in front of a camera and question me is just shows how naive they are. How little research they have actually done. Instead of going to watch the tape, they simply utter the same tired old clichés.
Despite not being the biggest of men, he is quite an imposing figure. Every muscle on his body is well toned and defined in its own way. Every fibre of his body has been well trained, and on many occasions has he lasted hours in the ring. He is in every sense the perfect athlete, and he certainly lives up to his moniker of "Britain's Finest".
Mike Harrison: So it is safe to say that when I was disappointed to hear my opponent bring up the same old question marks. And to even go as far as call this my "farewell tour"...
He rolls his eyes in bemusement.
Mike Harrison: Let us get one thing straight, Ian, this isn't my farewell tour. I am not ready to hang up my boots and call it a day. I am still as determined and driven today as I was when I first started my training to become a professional wrestler. I am not here for money or to say goodbye. I am here to become the best. To be the best, you have to beat the best, and that starts this week when I step into the ring with you.
Unlike you, I have not underestimated my opponent. I am not going to stand in front of this camera and belittle you. I am not here to say that you can't wrestle. That you aren't in my league because you are a brawler with an attitude. Why? Because I have seen you wrestle. I know exactly what you are capable of. I know your strengths, but also your weaknesses. Many people would stand here and criticise you for being a rich punk ass kid. But does that really make you a bad wrestler? No, it doesn't. Why? Because like you, I am a millionaire. I live in a beach house in Malibu, California. I live a playboy lifestyle. Does any of that stop me from being a damn good wrestler? Hell no. So you being a rich punk ass kid does not stop you, but what it does do, is get on everyone's nerves. So when people step into the ring with you, they are so intent on knocking you down a peg or two, that they forget about what is at stake - the match.
Unfortunately mate, that won't happen this week. I have my sights set on going out to that ring and giving you the fight of your career. I am determined to go out to that ring and not only match you, but better you. It will be a hell of a contest. You like to brawl? So do I. There is nothing better than standing in the ring and going blow for blow with an opponent, seeing who will be the first one to fall. Back in England I used to love to box for that very reason, and while I did well at it, there were just too many rules. That is why I prefer wrestling, because while there are some rules that they like to enforce, what you generally get is two people wanting to tear each other apart, and that is exactly what we have here!
Harrison nods at the camera. His eyes reveal his intent, he wants to break Ian Windermere in half to make a point to the MSW roster that he means business.
Mike Harrison: This match will steal the show because we both want to progress. We want it badly. You want to prove to the world that you are more than a rich punk ass kid. And I want to prove to the world that I have still got it, and that I can, and will, once again make my way to the top of the mountain. Yes, I want the MSW Championship. I'm not the only one. But let me make this clear, Ian, this week you are in for the fight of your life. You want to progress, I want to progress, but only one of us can. And I intend to do everything possible to make sure that that man is me.
Good luck...
Fade to black.
