Kansas City, Missouri. A toasty 86°F and not a single cloud in sight. It was the true definition of a summer day. The trees were in full bloom, the sun shining bright, the birds chirping; it was quite picturesque. But come Thursday, July 17th, 2014, it would continue to be a battleground for all Missouri State Wrestling talent. One talent in particular, Farrah Farris, had already been training hard, in hopes of impressing her colleagues, and especially management, during her scheduled contest at Unstoppable #11. The regularly booked venue was crawling with eager fans, all anticipating the stacked card, wishing it had already been Thursday evening and that the show was about to be underway. Throughout the days leading up to each card, fans were able to visit the location to watch their favorite personalities train and prepare for the upcoming event. Farris, the coined New Girl, had been working hard at the notable Emerald Academy, sometimes with her tag partner at the upcoming show, Heather Jones, sometimes with her beau, Ulysses, or just by herself. Today, however, was a solo affair with no distraction. It was a time dedicated to getting focused and really concentrating at the task at hand: match preparation.
After working out a solid three hours, Farrah finally left the gym equipment behind, grabbing a towel to dry herself off and picked up a complimentary water bottle by the door. Exiting the closed off location that was reserved for scheduled talent only, Farris began to pull off her weight-lifting gloves, feeling the air blow between her fingertips; it was a sensation that felt just as good as all the times before it. Sighing with much comfort that another day at the facility was behind her, Farrah felt more confident in her chances at Unstoppable #11. She had seen the other girls at the Academy; she had watched them lift, watched them run the treadmill, watched them incorporate new workouts into their routines. All of this pushed Farrah Farris to her fullest, encouraging her to do the same. However, The Blonde Bombshell couldn't deny that her muscles ached after the day's workout, and she knew she was going to feel every bit of it tomorrow. But in the end, it was worth it. Every minute that Farrah spent preparing for the upcoming contest would turn out to be extremely beneficial in the long run. Twisting the cap off the bottle in her hand, Farrah took a swig of the cool, clear liquid, licking her lips after pulling the bottle from her mouth. Turning a corner, Farrah immediately found herself approached by two men holding recording equipment, clearly wanting a word on her tag contest. Farrah knew the moment was coming when she'd have to voice her intentions, and the time was now.
"I suppose this is where I give my perspective on my match, huh? Well, what can I say? I'm the new girl on the block .. I'm the one that everyone is going to doubt and push to the wayside. You can't blame them for thinking that. I know I don't. I realize that I don't look threatening in the slightest. It could be the so-called 'pretty face', the blown out blonde hair .. but truth be told, there's much more than meets the eye when it comes to me. All my life I've been mocked, laughed at because I've had a true passion for this business, them believing that I'm not in the industry for the right reasons. Officials, road agents, and management for promotions I've wrestled for in the past .. they've all treated me like nothing but eye candy, a woman that should be behind a man instead of within the ring, a woman that should only be strutting around in a bikini in between matches, not offering a single thing worth substance. But that's not where I belong, that's not what I want to be doing .. I belong where talents like Bryce Manning, Artemis Kaiser, Frank Washington, Johnny B., and Mercer Andrews are, and that's wrestling within the squared circle, pouring my all into the craft. I look up to talent like that, they're people that I hope to be at the top with, showing that I'm capable of being worth something relevant .. that I do indeed have what it takes to make it big."
Still somewhat out of breath after her workout only moments ago, Farris cleared her throat after speaking, her breathing noticeably more rapid than usual. However, the tone in her voice remained confident despite these differences. It was clear as day that Farrah was looking forward to her debut, wanting to eventually mix it up with popular stars in the promotion, stars that claimed she 'looked up to' and respected. Nodding slightly, Farrah picked up where she left off after a moment's silence.
"I've seen my match realize what I'm walking into. I'm not the only new girl around these parts lately, and there are three other women that are wanting to make the same statement that I am come Thursday, and that's to make a name for ourselves in MSW. Although it wasn't broadcasted, Heather Jones went out there at Unstoppable #10 and showed every single person in that arena that she's not here to play games; she means business. The girl can wrestle. She is definitely one woman everyone needs to look out for moving forward. And y'know, I couldn't be happier than I'm partnering with Heather at the upcoming event, because I know for a fact that she'll pull her weight and do what she does best, and that's kick some serious butt. Heather and I may not see eye to eye on many things, but come Thursday, we're partners .. we're tagging. All personal feelings .. how we may feel about certain people or certain things? It doesn't matter. What matters is us joining forces for this event and being a strong unit to overcome our opposition, and I fully believe that we can do that without any sort of problem. She's been showing me the ropes and really teaching me a few things that I hadn't picked up myself while traveling the States. We've both been at the Academy, working our tails off, and I know our teamwork will shine through. I have no lack of faith when it comes to Heather Jones; she won't disappoint in the slightest."
Her positivity was undeniable. Despite the different paths that Heather Jones and Farrah Farris would inevitably take within Missouri State Wrestling, Farrah could find genuinely kind things to say about her tag partner for the show. After all, positivity was the key to success; she was raised to always have an optimistic mindset. Farris viewed positivity as contagious, even. If Jones ever took the time to watch the segment she was filming, she would hopefully repay her with friendly commentary.
"Now, I can't say I know my opposition on a personal level, but I do know some of their history, which I've read on blogs and places like that. I know that one of Heather and my opponents this Thursday has some championship belts to her name, and that can be seen as impressive. I, myself, have never won a title, but hope to work my way up the ranks here at MSW to perhaps one day be on the same playing field as our #CHAMPION4LIFE. But, back to the woman I was talking about .. Marisol Hawkes? Marisol James? Honestly, I don't mean this as an offense, but I don't even really know her last name! She's been married how many times? Divorced how many times? I don't mean that as a jab, but when your accolades are clouded by the romantic relationships you make, that can be a bad thing. Not that I'm against relationships of any kind, of 'course! Regardless, Marisol has just as much to prove as myself and Heather at Unstoppable #11. She may have held some titles in the past, but this is the present, and that's all that matters: the here and now. It doesn't matter if Marisol's won this or won that .. what she needs to focus on is winning the match at hand against Heather Jones and myself, because if she can't even defeat us, then she's already biting off more than she can chew in attempting to challenge Artemis Kaiser via Twitter."
The gall portrayed by Marisol Hawkes-James was just enough to shake heads, including Farrah Farris'. Farrah knew that you had to earn your shot, especially against a woman like Artemis Kaiser. Title opportunities, let alone matches with the woman at the top of the division weren't just handed out to anyone and everyone. Spinning the cap off her bottle like before, Farrah took a small sip of her beverage and brushed a lone, loose strand of hair from her flushed cheeks, before speaking aloud once more.
"And Christine Nash? Yikes. I've heard some stories about that girl. If what I've heard is true, she's had a rough life, and while I'm sympathetic, I won't show any of it when we come face to face in the ring. Christine has built some sort of wall around her that is supposed to intimidate and instill fear in others; y'know, scare them off. But .. when I look at Christine Nash .. I just see a terrified, little girl trying to show the world that she's badder than she really is. When she walks around and talks a big game, saying that that she's twisted and insane, I can't really take her seriously. I'm not discrediting her accomplishments, however, by any means. She's apparently won twice the amount of titles that her partner has, which could lean the Missouri State Wrestling fans in their favor for Unstoppable #11. I mean, look at Marisol and Christine, side by side. They are clearly two veterans who have done numerous things in their career .. and on the other side, you have Heather Jones and I, two women that are just breaking out onto the scene and wanting what our opposition has had: success. My hope is that those two ladies enter this match with a big head and a chip on their shoulders, just so Heather and I can take full advantage and walk away with the victorious upset. I believe it can be done, I know it can be done. What's that saying that I'm always hearing? Oh, yeah .. the bigger they are, the harder they fall, right?"
A smirk crossed her face at that moment, those perpetually pink lips lighting up the shot like never before. Farrah's sapphire orbs sparkled with excitement, the thrill of her impending contest overcoming her. In only a matter of days she would find herself in the MSW-branded ring for the first time; the thought alone had her trembling with elation. Farris gave a small wave to the camera as she began to walk off camera, her radiant smile still present while the scene faded to a deep abyss of black.
