Bryce Manning had to go down.
He had stopped being the champion that MSW needed.
What happened to him?
Our hero thinks he needs an attitude check.
And he is more than willing to give it to him.
[Johnny was right. Luke was not willing to embrace his darker side to take down Bryce Manning, but he hasn't faced the abuse that Peyton has. As time and time has gone along, Peyton had grown more and more belligerent towards the current MSW Champion. Originally, he had this sort of respect for him. He was docile, mostly. He had a sharp tongue and a grim outlook on the world. A lot of people has sharp tongues. A lot of wrestlers had adopted the cynical outlook. It was nothing new. Bryce began to change, though. Peyton wondered why he changed, almost pitied him, but over time, he lost this pity. Rage settled where pity once lived.]
"This is going to end,"
[The room was silent. There was no Robert Fields on the side interviewing. Peyton sat in his locker room; a camera operator stood over him. The camera was on, recording this for MSW.com later. As Peyton finished taking off his wristbands, he looked at the camera.]
Peyton: "Title this with something that will get Manning's attention, because he is apparently stalking me at some instance."
[The camera operator, Dave, or something like that nodded his head.]
Peyton: "Manning, since you no longer deserve to be called on a first name basis, you seem to like pressing buttons, huh? I get it. That is your whole shtick now. I find it funny how you call yourself 'God', but you have fallen from grace. You might be confused, angry, or a combination of the two as to that statement, but it is fine. All the cryptic meanings will be revealed at Back to Basics. I cannot ruin all the surprises, you know? Anyways, I am going to spoil two things for you, Manning."
[Peyton put up one finger.]
Peyton: "One, the obvious, I am going to be walking out of Back to Basics as the NEW MSW Heavyweight Champion. Now unlike last time we fought, I am not putting it up to destiny or anything like that. I found out from that loss that destiny plays favorites. I have to take it into my own hands. And that means that I have to take that championship from you and carry that belt with actual pride. This leads me to spoiler number two."
Peyton: "I am not coming into that match looking to earn your respect, because I know I have it already. Your arrogance, your sickness, might appear as if you don't, but I know that deep down in your mind, you bear some respect for me. You hate it? A kid with a 'stupid haircut', 'fans', and a 'happy go lucky' attitude has Bryce Manning's, the God's respect. You can't fathom it probably. But what I am doing in this match is not earning your respect, I am coming into the match to beat your ass. Not just for the fans, who pay good money to see your ass get kicked for even a moment. I am not doing for my family who I'm 'looking to impress', as you heard from my sister or brothers. No, I am coming into this match for vindication for myself. Tonight, you told me to punch you, you told me to hurt you. I tried to oblige, but you ran! YOU RAN!"
[Peyton began to laugh.]
Peyton: "You wagged your finger at me like I was some dog or a child. But I saw something. For a second. I saw it for the tiniest sliver of time and it made me smile. I saw fear. Why would a 'God' run from a 'mortal'? Answer me this, Bryce? Why would a 'God' have to attack two 'mortals' from behind? Are you that scared of the two kids? Are you that scared of me? I had painted this image of you as an asshole, but one that would stand up for his words. Then I saw you take on Tommy Angel. You made a mockery of the man, then continued to after the fact."
[Through his words, there was moment of hysterical laughter.]
Peyton: "Manning, you're no 'god'. You are a 'false prophet'. And sooner or later, God's gonna cut you down."
[Cut to now. It was back to the usual setting. Peyton von Licht standing next to Robert Fields. Peyton looked around, smiling gingerly. A tag match, huh? How interesting. Management had set him up with his established partners in justice. Johnny B., who had been making a beeline to become the first MSW Tag Team Champions. Luke Jackson, his fellow number one contender, friend, and 'rival'. Who were their opponents? Bryce Manning, the 'false prophet', who had been trying to make Peyton's life hell. And then...the Apocalypse. There were renegades. They assaulted Peyton's former enemy, Neforian, and got rid of him for failing to defeat the hero of MSW.]
[It was a main event for the ages. Peyton gazed at the new banner put up with intrigue. Manning and the Apocalypse looked menacing, as they should. That was a scary combination. Peyton looked intrigued on the banner itself. Luke had his somewhat smug expression on his face. Johnny...well, he had his shades and mean mug on. C'mon, dude, people love you. Break a smile out. Peyton heard himself chuckle, causing Fields to give him a look. The interview was on.]
Fields: "PVL, I hope that we are not interrupted this time by the MSW Champion."
Peyton: "I would just move if he did show up. I cannot promise that it will be as 'peaceful' as last time."
Fields: "This week, you not only take on your B2B opponent, Bryce Manning, but you also take on two individuals who you have a bit of history with. They made their debut on your misfortune. The Apocalypse has stated that they have not forgotten you and that they are out to 'tie loose ends'. Thoughts?"
[Peyton feigned a shiver.]
Peyton: "Well, those big boys are nothing to sneeze at, but Robert, I can't say that they scare me. Because there is one thing that I found out about them. They are humans. Underneath all the smoke, ambiance, and intimidation they try to force out, they are humans. They were beaten by one of my partners and his partner. Then out of anger of their partner, leader, or whatever they called him failing to beat me...they turned on him. Heh, if you ask me, I think they are vying for attention, even if they say they don't. They are talented, but they choose to sit in the back of a dark, dank room and call me a hypocrite. They insulted what I stand for. They think I am some farce, masquerading as a 'hero'. But do they not hear the fans every week? Before my match, I heard the crowd roar my name by Manning mentioning it. It was amazing! If the Apocalypse wants to continue to believe that I am some false prophet...like Manning...they can."
"But do you think that it matters to me, Robert? Three voices in the dark calling out to the light, calling the hero a 'false idol'? While in the light, a hero stands with friends and a fanbase who only wants to see the good succeed? For a while, I thought I wouldn't be able to defeat the Apocalypse. They were intimidating, but when they were beaten. It revealed to me that...they are beatable, they are like me; they are like Luke Jackson. They call me the 'loose end that they need to tie', but they don't realize...they are the loose end. This week at Unstoppable, I'm going to break the tie all together, because I'm moving on."
Fields: "To Bryce Manning and Luke Jackson, I assume?"
Peyton: "You damn straight! Ever since I've stepped into MSW, I have said that I was going to win the MSW Championship. I made a promise to the MSW fanbase that I wasn't going to let anyone taint it. But I failed them. When I walked out that ring after Manning defeated me, I promised myself that I would get better. I've kept that promise to myself. And now, I am making another promise to the MSW fanbase. This one I will not break. You all want to see Bryce Manning get his ass beat? Fine, I promise here, on this interview that starting THIS week at Unstoppable #11, I will personally deliver Bryce Manning a well-earned ass beating. And if the Apocalypse wants to stand in my way, call me an angel. Actually, let me quote a really cool movie...JBC, Luke Jackson, and I...'we're cancelling the apocalypse'."
"And JBC stated something...he believes that Luke Jackson and I are not willing to bring the noise, break away from our rule-loving ethics for this match. JBC, I am going to have to prove you wrong. I know what I am walking into. This match isn't no match. Hell, it's not even a fight. It's a war."
[Peyton held up a chair in his hands. A smile grew on his face as Fields looked shocked.]
Peyton: "JBC, let's both hope that Luke Jackson is on board. Because those boys in the opposite corner are trying to end up. I am sure as hell not going to let them do that, not while I can still fight my ass off."
[Peyton walked off, leaving Robert alone.]
Fade to black.
